2010-01-28

Platt We welcome Lucinda Platt as a Marie Curie Fellow during the year of 2010 at the IAE-CSIC, studying the intersection of ethnic identity and structural position. Lucinda is Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the Institute for Social & Economic Research at the University of Essex. Her research interests are in ethnicity, ethnic minorities and migration, in relation to which she has investigated poverty, social mobility, social participation and pay. She also has research interests in child poverty, in health and disability, and in welfare benefits. Longer term research projects she is involved in include two cross-national immigration projects, funded by NORFACE: one on the socio-cultural integration of new immigrants and the other on intergenerational transmission within the Turkish diaspora in Europe. She also has a key role the UK’s major household panel study, Understanding Society, for which she leads on the ethnicity strand.
