In October 2006 the Institute of Economic Analysis (IAE-CSIC) launched the INSIDE project (Insights into Immigration and Development). INSIDE is an independent, non-partisan initiative aimed at mobilizing and coordinating the existing scientific research on the causes and consequences of migrations. INSIDE coordinates the efforts of social scientists belonging to different institutions and disciplines. INSIDE is committed to scientific excellence and promotes interdisciplinary research.
Our interests include macro and microeconomic research, theory and empirics as well as empirical research from other social-science disciplines, particularly sociology and political science. We are committed to high standards of research.
INSIDE has also launched INSIDE Spain, providing support to the contributions, both conceptual and empirical, relevant to the Spanish case.
INSIDE offers
- advanced training on the economic and social processes related to immigration and economic development,
- financial support for research, dissemination and training on immigration,
- organization of national and international meetings that facilitate a productive debate between researchers,
- a biweekly scientific seminar hosted by the IAE, where world experts on immigration present their latest work and spend quality time with researchers,
- high-quality scientific research on the causes and consequences of immigration, and
- a network for cooperation between academic researchers and policymakers.
Any researcher interested in these topics is welcome to INSIDE.
